Our History

From a humble baptism on May 4, 1969, a vision emerged to reach a community with the message of Jesus Christ.  That same year a group of dedicated people were formed and  Susquehanna Grace Brethren Church (SGBC) began.

Their efforts created a budding congregation.  By the Summer of 1971 the church had grown to 31 members and money was given to purchase land for a new church.  In the Fall of that year, the church approved the purchase of six and one half acres.  On July 25, 1972 SGBC was incorporated in Pennsylvania as a public church and non-profit organization.  Sunday, November 19, 1972 a dedication service was held on the proposed church site.

We changed our name to Susquehanna Grace Community Church (SGCC) to better reflect our mission and purpose—a Charis Fellowship gathering of Christ-followers who love Jesus and the community that they are in. Today the church is experiencing consistent growth and development and has become a relevant, thriving community offering powerful worship, relevant Biblical teaching in a friendly, loving atmosphere! The purpose of SGCC is to bring Jesus to the people of the Susquehanna Valley. We do this by focusing on the family as a whole, offering different ministries to impact all ages.
